Will Not Print
If your device is refusing to print jobs in queue, use the following troubleshooting solutions.
No Connection to Printer
Make sure your device is either connected to your network or connected by USB.
Drivers are out of Date
It is always good practice to keep drivers updated. Download the most recent drivers here, select the appropriate operating system and version for your computer and download the driver installer. Run the executable and follow the onscreen instructions. Be sure to restart your computer after installing fresh drivers.
Power Cord Connected Insecurely
Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into both the outlet and the printer. If it is secure and the problem still persists, follow this guide to replace the power supply in your device.
Display is Unresponsive
If the display will not respond to input or appears frozen, check the following problems.

Device Requires Reset
Press the power button to turn off the printer. Wait 60 seconds and power the device back on.
Power Cord Connected Unsecurely
Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into both the outlet and the printer. If it is secure and the problem still persists, follow this guide to replace the power supply in your device.
Making Loud Noises
If your printer sounds louder than normal or is making a clicking or crunching sound, check the following.
Printer is Jammed
See if any pieces of paper are stuck in the feed tray. If there is paper stuck in the tray, turn the printer off and remove the jam.
Broken Internal Pieces
If there are any broken or rattling parts, see this guide on replacing the paper tray and check for any loose pieces in the printer.
Will Not Turn On
If your printer will not power on, or is completely unresponsive check the following potential problems.
Printer is Not Plugged In
Plug the printer into a standard wall outlet, then press the power button on the front of the printer.
Outlet is Bad
The outlet that the printer is plugged into is not working. Plug the printer into a different outlet. If the printer is plugged into a power strip, try plugging directly into a grounded wall socket. Press the power button on the front of the printer once you have ensured an electrical connection.
Power Cord is Bad
Check the power cord for sharp bends and exposed wire. Replace the power cord if any signs of damage are present.
Power Supply is Broken
Replace the power supply on the printer. Follow this guide to see how to replace the power supply.
Print Quality is Poor
If print jobs are not coming out as expected, is blurry, or contains vertical stripes, check the following symptoms for potential problems.
Printer is Out of Ink
Replace the ink cartridges for your printer. To see this done, visit this guide.
Ink cartridges are inncorrect
Replace the ink cartridges with hp approved ink cartridges. To see how to replace the ink cartridges, visit this guide.
Print head is dirty
Go into the menu on the printer and select clean print head.

My 4630 printer is making a loud noise as he paper is advanced in the printing process?
Why is there never any advice on the necessity for LUBRICATION? Ink cartridge slide bar? Other places for lubrication?

Recently replaced printer cartridges with #61, tricolor and black and white. Now it prints only black, and that is a bit smeary. The screen says “Printing in single cartridge mode.”

When printing, clip art backgrounds are printed black when they should be white. It never used to do that. I recently changed to getting my ink cartridges by mail from HP.

HP Officejet 4630 turning off and on again
This is a great printer up to now. The machine started unexpectedly turning off and back on again on its own. I did all the trouble shooting necessary and the problem persisted. I found the problem and wanted to share. When the printer “face” is removed, the small on-off button can be located on the board. This button was defective. I replaced the button with a stronger one that I had in my collection (a simple de-solder and re-solder) and now the printer works 100% fine. The instructions for how to remove the printer face are found on this website somewhere. FIXED!

I use my printer a lot for greeting cards. The front cover image prints out of alignment. It is eliminating a half inch of the right margin. The image starts right at the edge.

Here is the HUGE scam by HP i purchased an internal power adapter and installed it but the 4635 still wouldn’t power up. Here is the technicians standard reply to all of us.
Unfortunately, the issues you are experiencing are symptomatic of an internal hardware defect, meaning a faulty power supply or logic board. This issue could be a manufacturing defect, but is also often caused by a power event (shock/surge, prolonged over/under voltage condition, etc).
There is one step you can take here, both as a possible fix, as well as a diagnostic evaluation
unplug power at the wall outlet wait 5 minutes press and hold the power/on button for 60+ seconds keep holding while plugging back in, and for another 60 seconds after, then release

Part 2: If this reset process does not work, it would unfortunately confirm an internal hardware failure.
This is something that would require repairs to correct; at that point it is time for a new printer. While it can be fixed, it is not practical to do so. You'd be in the $150 range to have the internal power supply replaced, and a logic board would run you $200-250. For $80-100 you can replace the entire machine with a brand new model, with current technology and a fresh warranty, which makes more sense than buying the new part for an older printer.
Depending how you'd like to proceed, I can help with finding parts, finding a local repair shop, or recommending replacement options for you. Just let me know.

All of a sudden my 4630 hp printer will not print wirelessly from my mobile app.. I have done every thing possible to fix it. It keeps telling me some features not available. I can still print from my laptop???? Does someone have a fix for that.
