The printer doesn't power on because

The printer does not respond while plugged in

The electrical outlet does not work

The problem may not be with the printer, it could be a problem with the electrical outlet. Try to test the electrical outlet with other electronic devices and if those devices doesn’t power on as well, it is likely that you have a faulty outlet. Try to use an alternative outlet.

The power adapter is faulty

Make sure the power adapter is plugged in. And if the printer still doesn’t power on, it could be a problem with your power adapter. Refer to this guide replace your power adapter

The power button is faulty

If you know that your electrical outlet and power cord work, then it is most likely because of a faulty power button. Refer to this guide for instructions to replace your power button.

The motherboard is broken

If none of the above solutions work for you, the motherboard may need to be replaced. See this guide to replace the motherboard

The scanner quality is fuzzy because

Scanned pages and photos seem blurry or photos have lines on them

The scanner resolution is low

The document feeder only allows a scan quality of 300DPI (Dots Per Inch). You will need to open the HP Scanner software and change the source to use the flatbed glass scanner to scan at 1200 DPI.

The document feeder requires cleaning

Power off the printer and remove the power cord. Open the document feeder top cover and remove any debris visible. Spray some glass cleaner on a soft cloth and carefully wipe the white strip on the underside of the document feeder. Clean the paper pick rollers and separator pad. Ensure it is clean and dry and streak free, then close the cover and power on printer.

The ink cartridge is not recognized because

Non-empty ink cartridges are not recognized by the printer

The ink cartridge is not compatible

HP printers only work with HP ink cartridges and will reject third party cartridges. Refilled cartridges may also be rejected if their security chip is not reset to indicate that they have been refilled or if the chip gets damaged during refilling.

The ink cartridge needs to be reinserted

Open the printer to access the ink cartridges while the printer is on and remove all cartridges, then reinstall the cartridges and close the printer.

The computer can’t access the printer because

The printer’s connection and software might not be configured properly

The wireless is not connected

To connect the printer via wireless, you will need your wireless SSID (network name) and password.

  1. Start by touching the Wireless icon.
  2. Press the Wireless Menu icon.
  3. Press Wireless Settings, then Press Wireless Setup Wizard.
  4. Select your network, then enter your network password.

The network cable is not plugged in

Connect an ethernet cord to one of the ports on the back of your modem or router. Connect the other end to the network port on the back of the printer

The USB cord is not plugged in

Connect a “USB 2.0 A to B” cord to the back of your printer(use the smaller connector here). Connect the other end to a USB port on your computer.

The HP software is not installed

The HP Printer software can be found here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Select Printers

In the “Enter your HP Product Name” field, enter HP Officejet Pro 8620 then click find.

Click “download” towards the right of “HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers”

Run the program.

The printhead has failed or is missing because

Error message on display reads “The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed"

The printhead needs to be reinserted or replaced

The ink cartridge contact springs may have been damaged from removing and reinstalling ink cartridges. Follow this guide to reinsert or replace the printhead.

My HP 8620 printer. was jamming now the statement is Shutting down. I have unpluged it and pluged it back in and it still shows shuttimg down.

The printer auto feed says it is jammed, but there is no paper in it. Also, because of this error message, I can no longer copy or scan, even from the glass. I’ve tried cleaning the feed rollers, etc. but cannot get the error to clear.

We can print from our computers put can not use as printer buy copying another page. The front panel does not come on it remains dark so we can not copy in color or black and white. What can we do to fix this?

HP 8620 Printhead Missing: I tried all the things listed to fix this problem, unsuccessfully. In my frustration I went to purchase a new printer HP 9015 and HATED IT! Cheaply made. HP intrusive, wanting to know how many pages you print & how often, etc. They want a lot of information even though I would not subscribe to its INK services. Don’t think the opt out took when selected.

Since there was no better printer to purchase, I plugged in the HP 8620 once again. Having no paper in it, the first message was to insert paper to do an alignment. Once inserted, it began printing alignment page. And, then no more “printhead missing” shows up on the printer. It’s like the printer was able to advance to the next level allowing the alignment. Keeping my fingers crossed it has corrected the problem. I only use HP genuine cartridges. Hopefully, if you can get to the alignment prompt, it just might clear your printer up as it did mine.

My printer is on pause, I cannot get it to print from my PDF files, I could before I do not know what changed. It will print all other ways

I’ve done everything that I have found to do to get the error message( the printer head has failed )to go away. The printer was moved to a new spot also I am using windows 10. Is there any fix for this?

Keep getting printer error on the OfficeJet pro 8620. Error message says to power off and turn on again but does not fix the problem. Error is accompanied with flashing lights on the right.

There’s plenty of ink in the printer, but for some reason when I print, the pages are blank.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8620 and recently whenever I send a .pdf as it sends from here, there is a black line. This occurs consistently. Is there something I should maintain to fix this problem. I have gone through all the suggested maintenance with no positive result.

Centennial, Colorado 80111 officejet Pro 8620 has been very reliable. the only problem I can’t solve is when I send a .pdf or copy from the tray, I always have a ingle black line that goes down the whole page. I went through all the maintenance checks as suggested, but the line persists. Please advise since I want to keep this printer since everything else functions perfectly.

I replace my ink cartridges twice I just come back from Office Max and I've gone through the troubleshooting processes on my 8620 it continues to say that my new ink cartridges are faulty and need to be replaced what do I do

My printer is triplicating every line on the page printed. I’ve tried unplugging, turning it off, resetting the printer, cleaning the print head, and realigning the print head.

What else could be wrong with it?

When I have a 10 page document to scan from the feeder and save on my computer, all docs scan but I'll receive an error when I attempt to view the doc on the computer screen before I save them. I can scan 2 to 4 docs, no problem. How can I fix this problem?

Is it possible for me to replace the Ethernet port (I-Line)?

Regardless of which cord I used they won't click on because part of the port is broken, It work till it falls out, I've tried tape and the like.
