New 2DS XL. touch screen was unresponsive. Took a firm piece of card, wedged it between screen and bevel with quite a bit of force, slid it all the way around couple of times. Worked!

Try it before replacing or taking apart.

I have had a problem that my device does not seem to be loading or that the battery does not seem to hold charge. When charging, the solid red light won't turn off and when starting the device without charger attached it flashed red. I thought the battery was broken and ordered a new one, but the problem was another: the battery wasn't calibrated! YES, you can calibrate the battery. To do so, charge your device for several hours without interruption. Then detach charger and start your device. Drain the battery empty, for example by starting a game in full brightness and simply let the trailer run for several hours. When it shuts down due to drained battery, attach the charger and charge it uninterrupted for several hours until you're sure, it is completely charged. This calibrates the battery and for me the problem was gone.
