The DVD Player Does Not Turn On
The DVD player does not turn on.
The DVD Player May Be in Standby
If the DVD player does not turn on, it may be in standby mode, in this case the Standby LED to the right of the disc tray will be glowing. Hit the power button to turn the DVD player OFF. Wait a few seconds before hitting the power button again to power ON. The DVD player requires a few seconds between powering on and off.
The AC Power Cord May Be Loose or Not Plugged in
If the DVD player does not turn on, the AC Power Cord may be loose or not plugged in. Check if the AC power cord is fully plugged into a wall socket. Make sure the wall socket works properly by trying another device in the same socket.
The AC Power Cord May Be Damaged
If the DVD player does not turn on, the AC Power Cord may be damaged. Check the AC cords for damage. The AC Power Cord may have bare wire showing or may not be properly connected to the power supply board. The AC cord may need to be replaced.
The Power Supply Board May Be Damaged
If the DVD player does not turn on, the Power Supply Board may be damaged. Check the fuses on the Power Supply Board. Also, check for any damage to the Power Supply Board. The Power Supply Board may need to be replaced.
The DVD Player Does Not Eject
The DVD player does not eject the disc.
The Power Is Off
If the DVD player does not eject, the DVD Player may be turned off. Turn the DVD Player on. If the DVD Player will not turn on, See the DVD Player Does Not Turn On section.
The DVD Player May Be in Standby
If the DVD player does not eject, it may be in standby mode, in this case the Standby LED to the right of the disc tray will be glowing. Hit the power button to turn the DVD player OFF. Wait a few seconds before hitting the power button again to power ON. The DVD player requires a few seconds between powering on and off.
The Disc May Be Jammed
If the DVD player does not eject, the DVD inside the DVD Player may be jammed. To access the Disc Tray, remove the top panel and disc tray bracket. Check to make sure that the center of the disc is aligned with the disc mount.
The Disc Tray May Be Damaged
If the DVD player does not eject, the Disc Tray May Be Damaged. Check for any apparent damages to mechanical components of the disc tray, including the gears as well as the ejection motor by replacing the Disc Tray.
The Motherboard and Ejection Motor May Not Be Correctly Connected
If the DVD player does not eject, there may be a bad connection between the motherboard and the ejection motor. Remove the top panel and unplug the ribbon cable connections. Clean the connections with alcohol and then plug them back in. Also check for any damage to the ribbon cable. The ribbon cable may need to be replaced.
The Ejection Motor Is Broken
If the DVD player does not eject, the ejection motor may be broken. The ejection motor may need to be replaced.
The Eject Button Does Not Work
If the DVD player does not eject, the eject button may be damaged. See Buttons Do Not Work below.
The Disc Is Not Being Read
The DVD player is not reading the disc.
The Disc May Be Dirty or Scratched
If the disc is not being read, there may be be dust collected on the disc, or the disc may be scratched. Clean the disc with a micro cloth or purchase a new disc.
The Power to the Laser May Be Interrupted
If the disc is not being read, the power to the laser may be interrupted. Remove the top panel to check for damage to ribbon cable connections. Also check the condition of the laser housing. One or both of these components may need to be replaced.
The Laser Lens May Be Dirty
To check if the laser lens is dirty, remove top panel and disc tray bracket. Use a microfiber cloth to clean the lens.
The Disc Tray or Disc May Have Accumulated Moisture
If there seems to be moisture in the disc tray, place DVD player on its side and air out with a fan or blow dryer.
The Laser May Be Worn Out
If the laser seems to be worn out, buy and replace with a new laser.
The Disc Does Not Spin in the DVD Player
The disc does not spin in the DVD player.
The DVD May Be Scratched
If the Disc does not spin in the DVD Player, the DVD may be scratched. In this case the disc laser will not be able to read the disc. Put in a different DVD in order to see if the problem is the DVD itself, not the DVD player.
The DVD Player May Be Overheated
If the Disc does not spin in the DVD Player, it may be due to the DVD player overheating. With the DVD Player turned off, blow compressed air from a can through the vents located on the bottom of the DVD Player. This will get rid of any dust that might be accumulating in the DVD player (main cause of overheating).
The Motor May Be Broken
If the DVD player tells you to open the tray and nothing happens, the motor may be broken. Check the Buttons Do Not Work section to make sure that all connections are secured and that the button circuit board is functioning properly. If everything works as it should and the tray still does not eject, then you will need to replace the tray motor.
The Connection Between the motherboard and the Disc Tray may be loose or damaged
Check to make sure the ribbon cable is fastened between the motherboard and the disc tray. You may have to replace the ribbon cable if it is damaged.

The Disc Mount May Not Be Attached to the Disc
If the DVD does not fasten, the disc mount may be broken or worn out. The disc mount or entire disc tray may have to be replaced.

1) Push "Set Up" on remote
2) Use arrow to get to "System" and push "Enter"
3) Use arrow to get to "Reset" and push "Enter"

When I plug the unit in I get the orange standby mode light. Then when I try to turn it on it gives me red and when I let go of the button it goes back to orange. I checked the fuse and it's fine. What could be the next thing to check?

disc not reading while spinning. laser tracker motor+gears jams. Picture shows the motor removed, normally the gear would poke out of the whole pointed by the blue arrow.
Motor spins freely. Remaining gear train spins smoothly. Just the 2 gears (red arrows) jam every 60 degrees or so. Gear on motor shaft either wrong or worn (but no sign of wear)

My dvd is showing in black and white. Can’t find reset for the progressive scan. I’m using the three cables - audio (2) and video to the tv. Help! I have no remote for it.

Progressive scan uses component video (3 color video connection, red/green/blue) have to get the 3 component video cables connected correctly to get progressive scan working correctly and get to the menu entry to turn it off.
I recall getting the 3 component video cables in the right plug was tricky on this DVD. Don’t remember why, try match the colored plugs between DVD+TV. Might swap around until you get it right if color codes don’t work.

Update on 6/16/2020 post above.
Got 2 of these, Won’t read some/all discs. Both of them had cracked first gear on the drive motor. Its very high torque so the crack allows the gear shaft to slip and controller gets lost.
Fixed 1 of 2 with a brass gear ordered from Aliexpress (5 gear for $3-$4 shipped) You need 0.4M (modulus) 12T (teeth) 5.5 diameter. Hole diameter 1.93mm. Spec is 122A. This gives about 0.02mm clearance between gear and motor shaft.
I had to use a C-Clamp to fit it on. One slip on a little bit with finger pressure and C-Clamp took it rest of the way. This player was fixed. Other one was very tight and C-Clamp pressure appears to have ruined the motor so becareful. Best to find one that fits on a little with finger pressure.
I also messed with tuning laser power before fixing the gear and lost the reference. So had to readjust the laser. Just increased the resistance on both DVD/CD adjustment screws and gradually decreased it and tested against variety of discs until it played all discs.

Where is the hardware manual /guide w detailed parts used to manufacture the ch-300 dvd and detailed voltage check points to diagnose the entire player please? power on led is amber and only turns green momentarily when some buttons are pressed but other than the amber led the device is completely inactive to all button presses. The power supply produces what seems to be a nomonal 11.74 volts on the dc output pins to the input to the main board.

never found a service manual. Fixed 2. Both had split plastic gear on the motor. One had bulging cap on PSU.

Whenever I pop in a CD it works fine, but a DVD, it’ll play but when it changes scenes or select a option…it’ll stop and go back to the Cyberhome screen.

Only Composite (yellow RCA jack) and S-Video (S video jack) connections. I think can also do progressive. I recall if DVD video setting doesn't match connection, will just see noise.
Red+White RCA are for stereo audio.
