Vacuum Will Not Turn On
The vacuum does not turn on or show any indication of powering on.
Faulty Battery Terminals
Make sure wires are inserted into the battery all the way repair or replace damaged wires. Follow the replacement guide for a step by step instructions.
Faulty Charging Port
Check connections on the charging port and check inside to see if the connection inside the port are damaged. Make sure terminals are properly connected. Follow the replacement guide for a step by step instructions.
Vacuum Not Picking Up
The vacuum pass over the debris and does not pick it up.
Bad Front Belt/Front motor
Make sure the front belt is attached to the motor and brush roller, check power connections to the front motor. Make sure belt is attached to the motor and brush roller. Follow the replacement guide for a step by step instructions for the Front motor, and follow the replacement guide for a step by step instructions for Front belt.
Clogged Filter
Make sure filter is properly installed if not remove and reinstall correctly. Make sure filter is not full of debris. Follow the replacement guide for a step by step instructions.
Main Suction Motor Not Working
Check connection on the motor and make sure the impeller is not jammed. Follow the replacement guide for a step by step instructions.

When the vacuum is turned on is the brush roll supposed to spin because mine doesn't

The brush roll has its own motor. You have to buy a replacement. It costs about half the cost of the vacuum itself! I just bought one… and now the actual vacuum has completely died on me. This thing has been nothing but money and hassle!

After a few seconds of being on it turns itself off and flashes between the hardfloor and carpet settings before turning off completely! It’s done this with both batteries and is just new so have no idea what is wrong with it?

Ok….so it is the switch! We just took mine apart and wired the batteries straight to the motor and it works fine that way… i’ll be giving them a call Monday and hopefully we can get a free replacement switch.

Hard floor and carpet lights both on at same time. So don't know what setting it's on. New machine about 5 weeks old

how can we be sure that replacing a part will fix the problem? i’m sure there are DMM tests that can be run in advance to be sure. Also, how are we supposed to know specifics about replacement parts without further research? Part numbers and manufacturers should be listed in the article.

Mine is doing the same thing. I’ve cleaned the filters and the vacuum head and the batteries are fully charged. My vacuum is three months old. I’ve even recommended it to others! What the heck!

Me again… check out a trouble shooting video by a young man from the UK. Within minutes my vacuum was fixed! My pipe was completely clogged and the only way I could tell was to remove the head and motor. I checked the flexible hose part first. I then held the pipe up to the light but couldn’t see a thing. This told me there was a clog. I had to straighten out a wire hanger to get down to the clog. I carefully jabbed at it. Globs of dog hair and debris came out. This took several times, and with each time debris came out, I checked through for the light. I couldn’t believe how jammed it was! Again, check out the you tube trouble shooting. Back and running perfectly!!

Cleaned filters and put back together and it worked but now gone to turn it on and lights on back flash then goes off can anyone help

Oirs has been cutting out also. I took ours apart and forced a wire hanger through one end of the wand to the other. Had to do this several times. Take it apart and if you can’t see through the wand then obviously it’s blocked. This should remedy the issue. Working now as good as ever

I found that when I charged the vac overnight, that did not happen anymore.

Mine works for a few minutes then shuts off by itself. Had it about a year but it did this from the start. Just never had time to contact Shark and go through the customer service crap (read that you need to pay shipping for a replacement vac!) Just tried to use it again and the same thing happened. Very disappointed.
Also, the nozzles pop off really easily which is very frustrating!

I am having to same issue and I called the 1800 for Shark and they are sending me a free replacement battery to see if that fixes the issue. They are super nice and willing to help. Good luck!

Mine is 2 months old and will turn on for 10 seconds and then shut off. It’ll do this every time without fail. Battery is fully charged.

Cordless vertex will only turn off if battery is removed. Vacuum is only a month old. Help

Seems like this is a common problem with no answer. I bench tested the motor and it ran perfect. I'm thinking that there's an over load or heat sensor somewhere in the circuit. Everything that I've tried has pointed in that direction but I can't find anything and nothing on line so far.

My Sharp cordless is a rebuilt, I believe, however, it always has been fine. But the debris bag
is reversed. How can the debris be vacuumed up from the front, and have to go around and
into the filter. Filter won’ t fit other way.Can’t get main piece snapped on. In other words, think it was made poorly with a small trap door inside of front area that has to suck up debris which doesn’t go directly into the filter bag. It seems that it has to go up and around to reach the inside of the ba g. Sounds crazy, but it is backwards, and no way to change it around that I can see.

This is the way this is meant to work. The filter does not serve as a dirt collection bag. The filter shape may seem counter-intuitive, as it faces into the direction of air flow. It has a plastic frame to hold the filter material in place against the direction of air flow. The dirt collects in the area between the front inlet (with the flap valve) and the filter. The filter itself is washable and reusable.

Shark hand held Runs for about 2 sec. and shuts off. Took everything apart. Cleaned filter. Checked for blockage. Reassembled. Same thing happens on restart. Took brush, filter and front canister off. Runs perfectly fine, no stoppage for 3 min. So what else can it be? I’m baffeled. Paul July 8, 2020

I came on here to see if I could troubleshoot what was going on with my semi-new handheld vac but after reading the comments on here, I am seeing that my issue is a common problem. My vac turns on and runs for about 5 secs then shuts off by itself. I have had this vac for less than 2 months. The battery is fully charged. The filter has been changed out. No clogs anywhere that I can see. It has full suction when it is on. It just does not stay on for long periods of time. Was anyone able to find a solution?

This one that we have tuns on for 2 to 3 seconds and the shutdown and if you shut the switch off and turn back on it does the same and so on

Hi I have the same problem shuts down after a few seconds I wished I had researched better as it seems this problem goes back some time. I have done all the usual checks to , I think it may well be a sensor problem as mine works with the hand held top , hoovers fine and does not cut out , but as soon as it is put back together with the wand it stops .It is not clogged anywhere visible.

All 3 lights stay on according to battery charge, but running time is only 10 minutes. Is this because battery is defective? Or is the issue elsware?

This product is a waste of money. Mine was used less then 12 times and quite working.
