Printer Is Unable To Print

The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 turns on, but doesn’t print when it is prompted to.

HP Sprocket 2-in-1 in Camera Mode

Put the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 viewfinder in the open position. If the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is in camera mode, it will not print. Gently press straight down on the viewfinder to return to printer mode.

Unable to Connect to Sprocket App

Ensure that your mobile device has the HP Sprocket app installed and updated. Ensure that your mobile device has bluetooth enabled and is paired to the HP Sprocket 2-in-1.

Android devices: Ensure that location services is enabled in settings.

Paper Size Mismatch

The Status indicator LED light is solid red or blinking red. Remove the paper cover and check for fit. The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is only compatible with HP ZINK™ Sticky-backed Photo Paper. This paper is 2x3in in length with a gloss finish. Compare dimensions to be sure of a successful print. The paper also may warp when used outside it’s optimal operating temperatures 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C). If you are using the correct paper, the motherboard may be damaged.

Sprocket Fails to Charge

Plugging in HP Sprocket 2-in-1 into wall or computer leads to no change in charge status.

Indicator Light Is Burnt Out

If the charger is plugged in and no indicator light turns on, the product may still boot up, but the L.E.D may be burnt out. Plug the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 into the an electrical outlet with a micro-usb cord. After 60-90 minutes of charging, push the on button to see if the Sprocket turns on. This would indicate that there is not a problem charging, just that the indicator light is not functioning properly and the Sprocket will still function.

Cable is Frayed

The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 makes use of a micro-usb in order to charge. If the micro-usb is plugged into a functioning USB port, be it a wall outlet or laptop port, then it should charge. Examine the cable to ensure that there are no exposed wires, kinks, or damage to the wire’s insulation.

Battery is Completely Dead

The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 uses a Lithium Ion battery. Li-ion batteries may be damaged by exposure to extreme temperatures. The optimal temperature range for Li-ion batteries is between 10-55°C may fail to hold a charge. If the device is plugged in, the indicator light turns on, and the cable is in functional condition, but when removed from the charger it turns off the battery is broken and should be replaced. See battery replacement guide for directions.

Distorted printing

Film print does not fully resemble when compared to image file.

Open film cover

The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is only compatible with HP ZINK™ Sticky-backed Photo Paper. This paper is light sensitive and can cause issue with printing if the film cover is misaligned allowing light and other debris to pass through. Realign the film cover and slide it into the lock position until a “click” is heard. This confirms proper positioning of the film cover.

Jammed roller

If prints begin but fail to fully pass there may be a paper jam within the roller. Open the film cover and check for any misaligned pieces of HP ZINK™ Sticky-backed Photo Paper. Paper at an angle can snag and cause jams. If no jams are present the roller itself may be damaged.

Incorrect film substitute

The Status indicator LED light is solid red or blinking red. Remove the paper cover and check for fit. The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is only compatible with HP ZINK™ Sticky-backed Photo Paper. This paper is 2x3in in length with a gloss finish. Compare dimensions to be sure of a successful print. The paper also may warp when used outside it’s optimal operating temperatures 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C). If you are using the correct paper check for warpage.

Distorted pictures

The digital file of the picture does not resemble the printed product.

SD Card Reader Not Working

Insert a Micro-SD card into the designated slot on the bottom of the camera. After inserting a Micro-SD storage card into the device, the LED storage light to the right should be a white light if the Micro-SD card is read. If the LED storage light is red, that indicates a lack of paper. If the light remains off, then the SD card reader is not functioning.

Moisture in Camera Lens Assembly

If the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is left in a humid environment, moisture from the air may seep into critical components such as the lens assembly. This can cause pictures taken from the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 to become distorted. Check the lens and look for any droplets of water or signs of blurriness. See camera lens assembly replacement guide for directions.

Flash is not functioning

The flash feature is enabled before a picture is taken, but does not function.

Debris may impede the flashes normal function

Turn on the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 and set it into Camera Mode. Attempt to take a picture in low light conditions. If the flash is faint, ensure that there is nothing blocking the flash’s L.E.D. Debris or fingers may be covering the flash, limiting its intensity of the flash. Wipe down with microfiber cloth to remove debris. Attempt another picture in low light conditions to see improvement.

Flash does not function due to a broken solder connection

Turn on the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 and set into the Camera Mode. Attempt to take a picture in low light conditions. If the flash does not automatically work, then there may be a connection issue with the flashes solder connection. See flash replacement guide for solder replacement directions.
