Computer Won’t Turn On

The laptop shows no appearance of powering up.

Battery Needs Charging

Plug in the laptop, wait for several seconds, and then press the power button. If the laptop still doesn’t turn on, read on.

Faulty Charger

If the charge indicator light on the left edge of the laptop doesn’t turn on when plugging in, try using another charger. If the issue still persists, read on.

Faulty Battery

You may need to replace the battery. If doing so doesn’t solve the problem, read on.

Faulty Internal Hardware

The laptop may have disconnected or damaged hardware. You can examine the inside of the laptop by following a disassembly guide.

No Internet Connection

The laptop is unable to access the Internet.

Wi-Fi Is Turned Off

Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and airplane mode is off. You can toggle airplane mode through laptop settings or by pressing F7. If the laptop still cannot connect to Wi-Fi, read on.

No Wi-Fi Connections Are Available

In Settings, find the “Network status” page, then click “Show available networks.” If no available connections are present, the laptop may be out of range of Wi-Fi. However, if another device has available connections in the same location, read on.

Run Windows’ Troubleshooter

Before proceeding, go to Settings, find the “Troubleshoot” page, click “Internet connections,” run the troubleshooter, and follow the prompts. If the solutions provided by the troubleshooter are ineffective, read on.

Faulty Wireless Driver or Wireless Card

If none of these are the problem, the laptop may have an outdated or defective wireless driver or card. You may have to resolve a software issue or replace your wireless card.

Faulty Network or Router

The issue may be with the specific network or router to which the laptop is trying to connect. Troubleshoot the router, and if the issue still persists, read on.

Laptop is Overheating

The laptop feels hot, and the fan may be running high.

Faulty Fan Assembly

If the laptop is hot but the fan is not running, you may need to replace the fan assembly.

Hot or Sunny Environment

Using the laptop outside on a hot day, especially in direct sunlight, can cause overheating. If you are doing so, try putting your laptop in the shade or moving inside an air-conditioned building.

Blocked Fan Vents

If the laptop is resting on blankets or clothes or on your lap (of all places!), vents may be covered, preventing hot air from being blown out of the computer. Move the laptop to a hard, flat surface like a desk or tabletop, where vents are open.

Apps Are Using Too Much Processing Power

Your computer can have a high temperature simply by running complex programs or by running many at once. Try closing applications, allowing the laptop to cool, and trying again using one or only a few programs at a time.

No Display

The screen is black, even though the laptop is on.

Brightness Too Low

Your screen may simply be too dim to see. Try moving to a darker environment or repeatedly pressing fn + f4 to raise screen brightness.

Laptop Is Connected to Another Display

Your laptop may be trying to use a different display, such as a projector or another monitor. Restarting the laptop will disconnect any external displays.

Faulty Screen or Loose Screen Connection

If neither of the above solve the problem, you may need to remove and replace the screen. Follow the screen replacement guide to check that wires are properly connected, and then try the screen again. If it still doesn’t work, consider buying a replacement.

Touchscreen is Unresponsive

There is no response from the laptop to tapping, holding, or swiping on the screen.

Touchscreen is Disabled

In Settings, go to the Control Panel, click “Hardware and Sound” > “Pen and Touch” > “Touch,” and then make sure that the box marked “Use your finger as an input device” is checked.

Faulty Touchscreen

If the touchscreen doesn’t work even when enabled, you may need to replace your screen.

How would you restart it in this situation?

After the 30 seconds push, my Caps lock blinks, but I can not strat the computer with a push on the power button.

Computer Won’t Turn On: Add Broken PowerButton, as in my case. The Notebook turns on when using the power button of the docking station, but not when using the included side button.

My laptop touch screen is not working. I have tried all the hacks. It's not damaged or doesn't came across any hit.

Screen does not Respond to touch or intermittently

The touch screen might not be responding because it is not enabled or needs to be reinstalled. In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager. Click to expand the Human Interface Devices list. From there right-click the touch screen device, and then click Enable. Also here: https://www.wikihow.com/Activate-the-Tou...
