I got rid of mine by having the “battery replaced” by Apple at the Apple Store. In this “repair” the whole device gets replaced with a new device. It solved a bunch of my problems, including a stuck Home button.
It works… but the resolution doesn’t get all used. I’m trying to hack MacOS with SwitchResX or something else to override the display settings. I’ll let you know if I can get it figured out.
Does it still detect a monitor when you have everything disconnected other than the mouse and keyboard? Try starting the iMac in safe mode; hold down the shift key during boot and login. Let us know how it goes.
I have a few iBooks that do weird things too, in the end, I just use them for spare parts. Try running TechTools on it? Sorry, with a Mac that old, it could be anything.
Do you have Internet Sharing turned on in your Sharing System Preferences? If you have it on, the Mac is set to never sleep. There are other things you can try on this Apple Support document; but the first one I mention is not directly listed. Apple: If your Mac doesn‘t sleep or wake when expected
There might be a grounding issue. Try plugging the TV into a different power socket and with a different cord; or one of the devices connected to your TV might not be grounded properly either.
I have had this happen on my EOS 40D. Check the contacts on both your lens and your camera body. Make sure that those brass metal pogo pins on the body are working and that both those and the flat brass contacts on the lens(es) are clean. My old standby is to use isopropyl alcohol and Q-Tips to clean the contacts. (Just be care not to drip any inside the body or on the lens element. The Q-Tip just needs to be damp, not soaked. I usually squeeze the extra off by pressing the Q-Tip on the inside neck of the bottle.) Also another is to always change your lenses with the body and lens pointing downward. That way if there is any debris or dust on the lens or between where the lens and body meet, it won't drop down into your camera and get on your camera's sensor. Let me know if that works. Also, try the switching the MF/AF switch on the lens a few times to make sure that it is properly on AF.
I would definitely go to Apple and have them run their internal test software to see if this is affected by the recall. Do it soon, I'm sure you will, because the date at which this extended service program ends is the end of this year, 2016. After that, they won't replace it for free.
I feel that this guide is missing a step to show you what it looks like with the piece actually removed from the iPhone. I do not know what I'm actually to remove or not remove. @bobdownes says that I don't need to remove the big square, but, in the overview photo it shows that the square sticker is removed.
Shouldn't the overview picture be used in the guide? And a step to show how the cable is properly remounted? thx.
I'm wondering if it is the best to use an SSD in a Time Capsule. Wouldn't all of that writing shorten the life of the memory cells? For a back-up source, I'd be concerned about having it die on me just when I need it and since you can't really get access to the status of the memory cell health while in the Time Capsule, you'll never know when it is going to die.
Also, I see a Danger warning for this repair. At which step should I be careful about doing the repair? I know all, but just would like to know at what stage and what elements should I be careful not to touch.
I can’t seem to find these batteries anywhere. Can someone post a source? Thanks!

Could I use some guitar picks? If so, what gauge (thickness) of a picks should I get?
what about heating a cloth bag filled with rice in the microwave? Would that work?
