Found it impossible to lift the back with out cracking the glass. However, once it was cracked and I didn’t care so much it was quicker to lie a hairdryer on it’s side and basically just peel the cover off (shattering the glass in multiple places). I’d recommend just factoring in a replacement back cover as part of replacing the screen, and then this step becomes a lot easier and less frustrating!

You should get some adhesive tape to remeount the whole thing. Not mentioned in the furnitures needed. Don't forget it !
