The iPulse SI325 was first manufactured by Sharper Image in 2005 with newly integrated ColorSync LEDs and ZipConnect capabilities. The iPulse comes with Sharper Image’s ZipConnect unit, which is interchangeable with a 30-pin dock connector (pre-2012 Apple products). The white, rectangular ZipConnect unit was marketed towards iPod users, but its extendable AUX plug is compatible with almost all music players. It quickly rose in popularity due to the light-show performed by the LEDs in sync with the playing music.

The iPulse comes only in white, with a clear plastic casing covering the speakers. The main controls sit in the lower middle of the device, sporting the classic central power button. The play button is located directly above the power switch, the stop/pause button directly beneath, and the volume is increased and decreased with the left and right buttons respectively. The whole central control system comes labeled by Sharper Image. The iPulse comes with the detachable ZipConnect unit, a power cord with a DC output, and a dark grey plastic cover that secures above the ZipConnect unit to protect it.

There are other models of iPulse that look very similar so it is important to identify the model number as SI325. To locate the model number, turn the device upside down. In the engravings you will see "iPulse - Model SI325" in the second line down from the top. The iPulse SI325 differs from its successors with a dark grey, plastic backrest where the audio device sits. The iPulse SI325 features ZipConnect which allows any AUX capable device to be connected. Future models lack the ZipConnect unit, featuring solely the 30-pin dock connectors (used forpre-2012 Apple products).
