Screen glass replacement without pulling screen

I have a crack in the screen protection glass and a replacement for that already on the way.

However, I cannot seem to find a guide for glass replacement only. Is there a chance I can get the original glass off without pulling out the whole screen first?

@hannesreisinger nope. You will have to remove the display. After all you will need to heat it up and fit the cutting wire between the display and the glass etc. You also need to re-adhere the glass with some (L)OCA etc. Not something you can do on an installed display assembly.

You do realize that this is not an easy task and will need a lot of practice to be successful. I am not saying you can't do a glass only repair but pointing out that there are many pitfalls.

Oh boy that sounds like something way outside my comfort zone. Cutting wire is the only option to separate the glass?

I guess I should at least have another screen at hand when attempting this... Thanks for the feedback!

@hannesreisinger yup. Something like a 0.1mm wire is the common tool for that :-) I agree. Get a new display. I know they are way more costly than the new glass but replacing the complete display is still easier then a Glass-only repair.
