So, who am I and why am I here? I consider myself just a regular Joe. I am old enough to know better but still believe in trying to save the world and humanity. One device at a time. I love to mentor and to help others, I am into repurposing and trying to repair anything.
I come from a time and a place where there was never enough money to just replace things or to just go and buy new stuff. Fixing things was not a passion but a necessity. 50 years of fixing, building and yes, breaking things as well, has taught me a lot. During my lifetime I've learned that the only thing that truly matters is how we get along with others; to never prematurely judge people. I do judge people by their actions and not by some preconceived notion. If you are being kind and compassionate toward our environment (people, planet, animal, etc.) you are okay in my book.
I have learned a lot and continue to study and learn new things daily. This enables me to provide some answer on this forum. It enables me to help someone that needs it and it helps to keep things going. All too often we discard stuff just because it is broken and we do not know how to fix it. This puts an incredible strain on our environment and it makes others rich. We all should support organizations like https://repair.org/stand-up/ to fight for our right to repair. It’ll keep our hard earned money in our pockets instead of further feeding the Profit-before-People (Planet) machinery.
“We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone, and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. “ (Charlie Chaplin in “The Great Dictator”) Totally awesome expression thereof shown here
Nine years on iFixit is a long time. After some debates with family and friends, I’ve made the decision to take a step back and to slow it down a bit but I will continue to support the efforts by everyone put forward on here.

回答“Sony Arc usb ammeter not reading, not charging”@zenrepair that looks like a fuse. Let us know how you determined it has a short. Check it for voltage once your battery/power is reconnected on one of the contacts (either side) and see if it gets power. Check it for continuity. Also, let us know which Arc this is LT15i, LT18i etc.
回答“LG 60pa6550 plasma tv display issue”@wishwash the issues with a delayed start is usually related to some power transistors (FET) that have failed etc. Take a good look at the power board and check both sides for any evidence of arcing (i.e. burn marks etc.) For now this does sound like a power supply issue. You can always post some pictures of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see. 在已经存在的问题里加入图片
回答“Screen jumps to a double image every few seconds, and jumps back.”@bparris a double screen is usually caused by a bad T-co board but can also be an issue with the LED driver board which is part of your panel. Remove and reseat all the ribbon cables. Vizio has issues with bad connectors so you want to rule that out first. Let us knw the exact model for your TV and post some good pictures of your boards etc. with your question. That way we can se what you see. 在已经存在的问题里加入图片
回答“I have dark shadows on my screen”@giacomosdad that will depend on what those shadows look like. It could be a panel issue or a bad T-con board. Post some good pictures of what your screen shows you with your question so that we can see what you see. 在已经存在的问题里加入图片 and let us know the exact make and model for your TV.
回答“Sanyo DP39E23 turns on for 15 minutes then the screen goes black”Allen Hauser could be a power board issue or a backlight issue. When the screen turns dark, in a darkened room, shine a flashlight beam at an angle against the screen. If you can make out shapes/silhouettes you know it is the backlight (possibly backlight LED strips). If you do not then you will have to remove the back cover and check the power board and main board connectors to see if the voltages are as required. Post some pictures of your boards with the question so we can see what you see. 在已经存在的问题里加入图片
回答“TV suddenly black screen, no audio”dong diana that depends on the make and exact model of your TV. It is possible that this is a power board issue or a main board issue. Once you give us more details about the make and exact model for your TV we can hopefully narrow it down for you. Let us know if your power LED is on or if your TV shows any sign of life. If not you will have to remove the back cover from your TV and check a few things (power board/ main board) out. Again, we need make and model to try and help you out further
回答“picture goes black but the sound stays on”@kirstynma3boys that depends on the make and exact model of your TV. It is possible that this is a T-con board error (less likely) or a backlight error(most likely). Once the TV turned black, (in a darkened room) shine a flashlight at an angle against the screen. See if you can make out shapes/silhouettes. If so you know it is your backlight. If not you will have to remove the back cover from your TV and check a few things (power board/ main board) out. Once you give us more details we can try and get you hooked up again.
回答“Samsung J2: Turn off and on constantly - Prende y apaga constantemente”Jose Quintero the first thing to try to determine what is going on with your phone would be to get a new battery. That will give you at least a known-well starting point for any further troubleshooting. Something like this video will get you there
回答“Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 doesnt start.”@albert104 The very first thing you want to do is to not try to restart the phone. This may further damage your phone. The next thing to do is to clean it. Disassemble your phone using something like this guide Then clean it with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Follow this guide, and even so it was written for an iPhone 3G all the points are still pertinent to your phone. While you clean your board, check for any obvious damage, like burned or missing components etc. When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone and reevaluate. If it still shows the same symptoms after you cleaned it, I’d replace the LCD. Hope this helps, good luck.
回答“Why does my Vizio TV intermittently have sound but no picture?”@tmat85 once the picture turns black and you still have sound, shine a flashlight at an angle against the screen. See if you can still make out shapes, silhouettes etc. This could be a failing backlight issue, as well as a bad power/main board. You would need to check the voltage from your power board to the backlight LED when the screen is lit and then against when the screen turns off. if you see a big difference it is most likely the power board. Again, you will need to check the voltages on BKLight on from the main board before and during failure to light up. Let us know what you find out.
