The 2013 revamp of the desktop Mac series known as the Mac Pro.

Magnetic Lid/Cover/Case Sensor Positioning

Hey Everyone,

I have a project to create a clear case for my old 2013 Mac Pro, does anyone know where the magnetic lid sensor is located and where the magnet is located on the aluminium cylinder? (I am assuming it uses a magnetic lid sensor like MacBooks)

I need it in order to make sure the bloody thing runs with the new case I plan to build.

Magnet paper might work but I am not sure

Cheers

The metal shell is needed to control EMI radiation, so consider the impact in your wireless services: Bluetooth, WiFi & Cellular connections as well as over the air radio and TV. Depending where you live you could impact your neighbors too!

Magnetic flux paper will work, just slide it on the outside of the shell or just look on the inside for the magnet.

@supermat your Mac Pro uses a Hall Effect sensor which gets activated by a magnet (looks like a small silver dot on the inside of the housing) located approximately one inch to the right of the power button.
