My hinge on the left side is broken.
The hinge on my Lenovo x131e is broke on the side with the power button. Based on forums and such, seems to be a common thing. Where could I get this fixed? Cost?

Your hinges are probably fine. It’s the screw bosses that the hinge screws screw into that have come free from the bottom case. Many laptops that have a plastic chassis have this problem. Lenovo advertised this laptop as having “reinforced hinges”, but there is no reinforcement to be found inside. Interesting!
You can try using epoxy to repair the mounts in which the screw bosses reside, but I suggest getting a new bottom case.

I was just about to post a question about the busted "plastic chassis" in my Laptop - am thinking now about simply cutting the cover around my keyboard so nothing is disturbed while hinge remains closed and I open laptop to work.
try to fix it yourself. make a epoxy of thermocoal and superglue and put in between frame and hinges. in few minutes it will be hard solid.

I do not know if I have the skills to try that, the frame around my screen has come loose also. I will have to think about this fix.
An actual solution - not just a complaint about the situation that doesn't work!

I have the same problem, had this think-pad for 6 months and the hinge on the left side has become loose. I have no idea what to do, but leave it open all the time. Lenovo calls this a user wrong application or use of their product and therefore not covered under warranty. In addition, if you call for help you get someone in the Philippines that cannot speak English well enough for an English-speaking person of US origin to understand, and then they hang up on you.

Complaints don't help solve the problem - we all know if we've tried to invoke warranty (but still worth trying), although the comment did get this string re-activated.
