Can this iMac be repaired saving original shell and replace screen?

Hey! That is my first time posting in here. I’m quite fresh on the platform, so here it comes. I’m wondering if I can repair this iMac whithout replace his entire shell, fixing that smash on it upper right corner and replacing it screen with a brand new one. Do you guys think that it’s possible to save his original aluminum body?

It may be difficult to remove the broken display using the normal method in this guide, because the display might chip or crack further when trying to remove it. You might be able to avoid this by putting some painters or packing tape over the cracks to hold everything in place.

Additionally, from the image you posted, it looks like the corner of the shell is bent forward slightly. This could make it difficult to adhere a replacement display (if it doesn’t lie flat on the shell the adhesive may not make good contact, and if the adhesion isn’t perfect the display may fall off later on). You may be able to realign the bent corner of the shell with some pliers, but that could be risky since you don’t want to make it worse.

In summary, the repair is likely possible, but if the corner of the shell isn’t aligned there’s a risk the replacement display won’t sit flush.

@chicoman83 Looks like it could be done. I’d try something like a G-tool or the Plier Tek tool [关联产品丢失或禁用: IF145-352-2] See if that gets it close. You may need somebody to make you a die for it but it should be possible. If in doubt, try a good auto body man. Those guys are usually wizards when it comes to something like that.
