Watch boot loops, gets hot when charging

Hi, so I bought an Apple Watch that was deemed broken. The person I bought it from, told me that Apple told them it needed a new battery and that it would cost her 200 to repair it since it was out of warranty. The watch will get hot when it is charging, and eventually will show an Apple Logo, then shuts back off. Do you think it’s really a battery issue? Would it be worth the time to buy and put in a new battery, or do you think it’s an unfixable issue? What leads me to believe it really is a battery issue, is how long it takes for the watch to actually start the boot loop. Leaving me to believe that the battery isn’t supplying sufficient power to the watch.

Update (01/07/2020)

So actually, turns out it does the same thing after a battery replacement. I have no idea what could be wrong.

From reading the title, I thought it seemed like a battery issue. Your actual question confirmed this. Although I specialise in iPhones, it seems like a common problem, with a similar resolution, and I think you do need a new battery in it.

Hope this helps.
