Canon camera runs out of battery really quick
I have a Canon Powershot A530 model. The battery runs out just after my taking 4 or 5 pics...Has anyone else faced such problem... Advise.
I have this camera too. You need to have the expensive batteries made for electronics to get any real longevity out of a battery. Any of the cheap batteries or rechargeable batteries drain very quickly. If I were you, I would make the leap to buy a $50 - $60 digital camera instead of spending all your money on buying replacement batteries. Make sure the new camera comes with a rechargeable battery. And you will get better quality pictures with whatever is out on the market than your current camera. Good luck!

I had this same issue with this camera, turns out it was the terrible batteries I was using!
I have a bunch of these absolute garbage "Chateau" batteries, they're fine for running a remote control for a few years, but anything more demanding just demolishes them instantly. My Canon A520 could take maybe 2-4 shots, then die. I just put some decent name brand batteries in it, and it been working fine!
Buy good batteries! 😁

Hi,
What type of batteries are installed? Alkaline or NiMH rechargeable? If NiMH how long have you had them and how often have you recharged them? Even rechargeable batteries have a life span.
Have you checked that the Power Saving Setting is ON and that the LCD display time setting is appropriate for what you want?
Go to Setup Menu > Power Saving

If it really where draining them that quick, the batteries would be unbelievably hot. It must be something wrong with it's percentage detector.

The question is a bit vague. Are you using NiMH or disposable batteries?

No offense, but I don't like it when people ask questions and don't pay attention to them. By default, ifixit will send you emails about your questions. Do not most people check their email at least a couple times a week?
