iMac CPU upgrade Question

Hello all I just purchased my first Mac ever and I would like to do some upgrades so that I can have a good first Mac experience. I was able to locate all the items I need along with the information such as memory, SSD etc. However, I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade the CPU as I know that Apple tend to get a little limited when it comes to third party software and Hardware etc.

I have tried searching online and mostly I keep running into guide and video sin regards to memory upgrades and nothing about the CPU upgrade.

My IMac is:

Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 20-Inch (Mid-2009)

MC015LL/A

MODEL - A1224

EMC- 2316

For this iMac is the CPU up-gradable and what is the highest I can use?

2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo (P7550)

The current processor is 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo I don't want to go lower. I wanted to be able to go a little higher.

The Machine you listed, a MC015LL/A only had two configurations, a 2.0 and a 2.26GHz.

These were both educational only machines

Please check your machine and we'll see just how far it can be pushed:

I suspect you have the earlier machine, the:

I worked on the machine you listed last week. I bumped the RAM from 1 GB to 4 GB and put in an SSHD and the speed difference was dramatic.

Ok I see that I was wrong. I was going by the image I have in this posting and it seems that you maybe be right.

The version I have is

MAC (20 inch, Mid 2009)

2 ghz intel core duo

Memory 2GB 1067 Mhz ddr3

Graphics Nvidia Geforce 9400 256 MB

My plan is to upgrade the CPU, add an SSD and upgrade Memory. My main concern is I'm I able to upgrade the processor and what is the Highest I can use? Heck is it even possible to even upgrade the Video as well?

I'm very upset that the Highest OX I can install is EL Capitan. Can the logic board be updated or upgraded so that I can install The latest MAC OS?

My Final question. Is it possible to Swap a mid 2009 logic board with a late 2009 logic board?
