bottom of touchscreen not responding to touch

The bottom 1/2" or so is very unresponsive. It takes multiple taps to get a reaction. The rest of the screen appears to operate properly. What's wrong? Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Traveld, this is usually caused by a defective digitizer or digitizer control board. Of course you always want to try a restore and factory reset first (you may lose all your data) and see if that fixes it. Most likely you will have to replace the control board or digitizer. Start with the cheaper part first:-) Here are all the guides you use for the repair. The parts are readily available. Hope this helps, good luck

I have been trying to doctor, but have run into a road block. I get part way through the process, but it stalls right after the instruction to connect the TP to the computer. Nothing happens after that step so I am unable to complete the doctoring route.

Is it possible to replace defective parts on the TP? What is the source?

Thanks

Well I myself am 13 but I'm glad to know at least why parts of the screen on my PC doesn't respond even if I can't fix it so thanks anyways. It was $2000 when I got it and it still operates like a PC without a touchscreen should when you first get it only this thing is about 6 - 7 years old.

I had this problem with an Ipad 2. Replacing the digitizer resolved it. The digitizer connection was not making good contact.
