The Samsung 55-in 4K SUHD (Super Ultra High Definition) TV was released in 2016 by Samsung Electronics. With a curved screen and ultra-slim bezel, the UN55KS8500F is one of Samsung’s most elegant SUHD 4K televisions. SUHD models are high performing and combine cutting-edge color and HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology to produce vivid and hyper realistic imagery. Moreover, the UN55KS8500F has the new Ultra HD Premium certification, meaning that it achieves the top levels of picture quality and format compatibility for Ultra HD content.
UN55KS8500F’s bright color is owed to its back lit technology. Conventional LED backlights produce white light, but in Samsung’s design, they produce blue light. Then, this light shines through a special film layer that is placed between the edge-lit LED backlight and LCD panel. The film layer contains the quantum dots—billions of nanocrystal semiconductors— that have been engineered to glow in very precise shades of red and green.
