Background and Identification
Asus originated as a company in Taiwan in 1989 when it was started by four former hardware engineers from Acer. Since the company’s origination, it has steadily climbed in size and impact. Asus today (summer 2020) manufactures a range of products outside of personal computers, including phones, tablets, and wearables. Among Asus wearables are Asus smartwatches, which combine basic activity tracker functionality with more advanced capabilities to offer users sleek, convenient wrist computers.
The newest edition to the Asus smartwatch line, as of summer 2020, is the Asus ZenWatch 3. The ZenWatch 3 is the third generation in the Asus ZenWatch line. It runs the Android Wear operating system, sports an IP67 water-resistance rating, and can reach 60% charged in just 15 minutes. The ZenWatch 3 has a circular watch face, while the ZenWatch 2 has a rectangular watch face. The ZenWatch 3 also offers a higher screen resolution than its predecessor. Both the ZenWatch 2 and ZenWatch 3 have 4 GB of internal memory, 512 GB of RAM, and AMOLED displays.
Asus smartwatches have thin touchscreen watch faces connected to buckle strap wristbands. There are a variety of different style wristbands available, most of which are leather.
