Note: This monitor uses a TN panel. It does not support IPS.
For Mac Users ¶
This monitor may have problems with color accuracy in Mac OS X. On the Device page author's test setup, I had issues in Mac OS X 10.6 but not in 10.9, but I partially attribute the correction to the working profile created in 10.6 to initially correct the issue. As such, your mileage will vary.
Fix options ¶
There are a few options to fix the issue. This will go from cheapest to most expensive.
Option 1: Automatic adjustment over VGA
Note: This DOES NOT apply to digital connections (DVI, HDMI and DP). This must be done for every system individually.
This can be done as a primary or supplemental fix. It is best if this fix is used in conjunction with a working color profile on your system, but this is not a hard requirement.
Option 2: Free fix (Color calibration)
This option is the only solution over a digital connection.
If you are using a digital connection, the only way to correct the color is through calibration. There are paid and free utilities that can be used and both will work equally if you just need to correct the color profile for passable accuracy. On a Mac, this can be done with the Apple Calibration utility. There are better options, but this is sufficient in many cases.
In order to get the best results, the monitor should be set to a 2.2 color gamut as a starting baseline. In some cases you will need to increase or lower this, as every panel will be unique. Increase or decrease this as you see appropriate.
If the 2.2 color gamut works, this is sufficient to clean the colors up for general usage.
Color calibrator (Expensive) ¶
This option is typically hard to justify due to the class of monitor, but it can produce excellent results IF you have superior monitors to use it with or you will notice slight color issues and it will annoy you. You must select a TN compatible color calibration tool.
Only select this option if you are picky about the color accuracy. The color gamut available generally does not justify the cost of a hardware calibration tool.
