Extremely dim screen after replacement

Hello!

I replaced the display assembly and battery on my Pixel 6 today, and after putting it back together, the display is extremely dim. It almost looks like a dead backlight on an LCD screen. Touch works fine, battery works fine, but it's extremely dim. I tried replacing the old display (I believe only the glass was cracked), but it had the same issues. What could be the possible cause of this? Could it be caused by the battery replacement? Did I scratch something on the connector?

That sounds like a logic board issue (if you know how) please test the output into the screen with a multimeter

This is a common problem when static build-up shocks the logic board and damages the backlight filter or backlight fuse. If this is the case the problem can only be fixed via micro soldering repair. Fortunately, the repair is straightforward and the components only cost a couple of cents. Labor will likely be between $50 and $100.

Hello Matt, I seem to have the same issue after replacing the screen of my pixel 8a. Does the entire logic board need to be replace for the fix?

Can the fix be done via access after removing the screen, or does the back case have to be removed?

Do you have a link to a guided repair?

@jess86973 I'm afraid Matt's comment really isn't applicable here, as the Pixel 6 has an OLED display, thus no backlight. Same with your Pixel 8a; it doesn't have a backlight either, so the problem is somewhere else. I know the guides all warn to be careful disconnecting the display, presumably because there are components mounted all around the connector that can get knocked off if the spudger gets misplaced. I'd check carefully for any missing parts next to the plug as the first step.
