Hello,
i have the unrecognized disc error and even a drive wich not spins the cd. tried everything but nothing works so i want to replace the optical drive. i have the CUH-1216B Model with the KEM-490aaa Laser model. Do i get the problem with the married board or is it the model where i dont need to replace the board from the optical drive?

@brando64816 that depends on your drive and what is in it right now. "On 1XXX series models of the PS4, the optical drive daughterboard and the motherboard are paired. If your daughterboard's broken, you'll have to replace the motherboard.
You can replace the optical drive assembly by itself, but the replacement assembly must be compatible with the your optical drive daughterboard."

Where can i See the Model Number? Did Not Look for that when i disassembled it
@brando64816 does it have a daughter board or just the small switch board as shown in the video?
I dont have such a large Board. I just take out the power supply to disconnec 3 ribbon Cables and Then i can take out the Drive
@brando64816 in that case yours will be like the video. If you listen to what Steve says in the intro, you know that you can just swap the drive.
