@luisquezad14348 it does not have one. You can no longer clear the bios password via the battery or a jumper. There are "services" that offer a master password, but all of them are fee for service.

Also, this laptop can have the master password option killed by the admin (not common, at least) :/. Gah, these are nasty when that occurs as you need a clean BIOS image without a S/T or express service code, then reprogram yours. It has a to be a proper virgin BIOS to reflash because Dell makes you toggle Intel AMT, or a new motherboard (reprogrammed by Dell or factory new).

Not enabling AMT on a board that may have had AMT in the past may cause issues, but I've never tested if it matters with a reflash. It likely doesn't matter as you have to reprogram everything to be sure, though. The issue is when the laptops are too new, the free keygens may not work unless Dell has kept the old one like they did before strengthening it with HSW. Ivy and older are permanently compromised because it's known how, HSW and a lot of the old ones are too. The newer ones (10th and up) may not be and to be honest, I have serious reservations to break into a locked one I can get a deal on as some of these are still in the hands of the original owners unless I get it cheap from a known owner or corporate disposal lot, and can validate the laptop's version of the password generation is cracked open without this issue. If I trust everything and the price matches (and I can tell Dell it's mine now) the high risk I guess I own a 10th gen 5000 series I cracked the BIOS password on.

While I don't fear the "BIOS locked" discount, I can tell which ones are permanently opened, dual generation but permanently open, the new ones which are open but can be spotty if the BIOS is too new vs not opened yet. These laptops are not for novices, since you need to know! Like if it's a BF98 it isn't ready yet (or may not be documented as "ready" so it's a risky laptop) but a BF97 is wide open. I draw the line at being overly specific *how* I break in and know. On a site like this, total secrecy is a trade-off; people know when someone like me sees the words I'm willing to buy it and break in so if I deny it, it may bring more attention to my willingness based on age. If it's in the open but I keep my "ok to unlock by force" list private, I can keep it that way.

https://bios-pw.org might be useful! its a collection of free reverse-engineering of the master passwords from various manufacturers, if not, it might be worth reaching out to dell support

@woah its ezz It won't be useful because these newer laptops have a master BIOS password that's hashed from the machine id or if you like, serial number. Therefore everyone is different, that site is useful for older laptops that had a commonly had a master backdoor password in their BIOS's. Still not needed as you only need the clear the CMOS on those models to solve the issue.

I opened my Dell 7420 laptop before I read this thread and I couldn't find any jumper...My Serial Number shows JJPMLN2-0001 but I failed to get a master password from bios-pw.org. What could be the issue?
