PC Crashes when playing some games

My computer recently has started crashing when playing some games. When this happens the computer screen is green and usually a loud sound comes out of the speakers, usually scaring me. Restarting the computer fixes it. I think it might be a overheating issue, for a while what I did was take off the side panel, which usually made it so the computer doesn't do this but recently it still does this even with it off. Also quite a few times I left the computer on for a long time without it turning off, possibly leaving it on for at most a few days. Do you think doing this made the thermal paste bad or something? I really want to continue gaming on the computer which is hard when it does this. Especially on games that dont autosave. Also another issue is that the computer sometimes likes to restart without warning, no blue screen, nothing. It's not windows because I turned it off its permission to do so. The graphics card also usually gets quite hot when I play on it.

@aactech I'm not sure about the motherboard, but the graphics card is a radeon rx 470 armor 4G oc.

The symptoms you describe could have a number of causes.

Looking at the photo it looks dust free inside so that is not a problem. Probably more the power supply.

Supermax is a very low end power supply. Also your 400 Watt power supply does not, in my view supply enough power for your system. The Radeon RX 470 Armor 4G OC recommend minimum at least 450 Watts . Insufficient power could cause the graphics card to overheat.

For your motherboard model number you should see it printed on the board look around. Or you could run programs like “CPU-Z” (less) or “HWiNFO” (more) which will give you all the information about your system.

You see giving all the details about your system is very important for us to be able to help you. Otherwise, you are asking us to be clairvoyant or guess, which won’t help you very much.

Have you checked what temperature your system is running at?

Have you updated all the drivers?

@aactech When I think about it, yes the graphics card does get very hot when I play games, also I looked at a few things about the graphics card earlier and saw something that now makes sense. It was saying that the graphics card was supposed to run fans at full speed when the temp got to a certain point. I looked at some temp tools to see that the fans were not spinning but according to the chart for the card they were supposed to be, which I guess caused the overheating issue. Also here are some codes I found on the motherboard.

Just look at the graphics card while the system is running. Are the fans spinning? AMD has software which allows you to set the profile for the graphics card fan speed, under different conditions, but I'm not sure if will run on Intel boards. Give it a try.

If you look at the top centre of the last photo you will see "Lenovo" & ver. 4 which is the brand & version - model number should be next to the name. I didn't even know that Lenovo made desktop boards! Where did you get it?

@aactech No they do not spin while the system is running. I tried doing what you said before but it ended up making the system restart, I'm guessing it's because of lack of power, cause Windows was not allowed to restart automatically. For the while where the system was on it was working. I bought the desktop online. Also would the model number be the same as the lenovo text, or would it be a sticker?

@catlove

Text the same as Lenovo text.

These graphics card's fans, with the default profile, will often not spin until the card reaches a predetermined temperature.

If you can boot to Windows just check Motherboard Model Using Microsoft’s System Information Tool.

Press the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run box, then type msinfo32 and hit Enter to launch Microsoft’s System Information Tool.

In the System Summary section, look for the the “BaseBoard” entries and they will give you the manufacturer name, model number and version for the motherboard.

@aactech The Board version according to windows is 0B98401 Pro

Lenovo 0B98401 Pro brings up ThinkCentre M93P 10A7000LGE but run Lenovo's software on site below for more definitive information.

Download Lenovo Service Bridge and follow instructions. Running diagnostics is important as we want to isolate your problem. Is it the graphics card, power supply, motherboard, etc.?

Let us know what it all tells you. Be methodical - very important when troubleshooting or you loose track of where you are.

Hi Ben, He has already fixed it " I got MSI afterburner again, and currently the PC has not crashed because of it. I am also controlling the GPU's fans, they are working. And the game that was causing it to crash AKA, roblox. Is now running at max quality. Another good sign is now I feel hot air coming out of the pc that I didnt feel before, this air was from the GPU. I will update you if it does crash... Currently the PC is working, apart from the long startup time."
