tv has sound but no picture I tried the flash light thing and there seems to b no picture then either but when I turn the tv from off to on the screen does come on and there is no cracks or anything

What is the model number of the TV?
Do you mean that the manufacturer's logo is showing but then there is no picture?
Can you view the menu screens OK?
Is the signal source for the TV, an antenna or a "box" of some type?
If a "box" have you tried to power cycle the box and check?
Try connecting a dvd player to the TV and see if the picture is there.
