Repair information for the Dyson DC35 floor vacuum. Released in 2009. Model number: DC35 DIGITAL SLIM.

Dyson DC35 Stalling Repeatedly

This vacuum has a clean filter, clean brush, clear canister, charged battery. No matter what I do, it only works for about ten seconds before it shuts off, then I can start it again, but the cycle continues with it stalling, and stalling.

Is the motor hot when it shuts down?

完成的

No. And the trouble begins immediately. I can let it charge for days and it will do the same thing. I keep thinking it has something to do with the wiring in the On button.

Turning off the MAX button worked. Thanks! But, what if I want that much power to clean a carpet? Do I need a new battery for that?

I repaired this issue on a DC35 with a new battery. The cleaner would work on normal mode for a short while, but would stall immediately if the max button was used.

A new battery did the trick for me!

A clogged filter will cause this. I know you said it was clean but they can be clogged and still look clean on the outside. Try washing it under running water the let it completely dry overnight.

it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it.

Mine does this, even with the head and filter removed. Seems to charge ok and no visible blockages. Replacing the battery is an expensive test if it does not cure it.

This is NOT a solution. The original poster said his filter was not clogged and his battery was charged, but you have ignored that and claimed a clogged filter and poorly seated battery will cause stalling.

My filter is brand new and so is the battery but the %#*@ thing stalls all the time.

The brush drive assembly may need to be replaced. Hair, lint, etc gets wound up beneath the impeller making it difficult for the small motor to turn it. Bad design, as there is no way to remove the impeller to clear the debris beneath it.

I tried the “Max button” fix mentioned above, and it seems to be working!!

I have had exactly the same, turns off after 5 seconds but only on high power setting… have new battery and all filters clean, I think it is the temperature sensor inside on the motor… however a fix for me is to cup the output vents in your hand tightly, often just one side of the vent slits is enough, turn on and with a little experiment it should keep running, after about 15 seconds you can remove your cupped hand… I believe it re directs cooler air to the sensor, mine then runs fine for about 20 mins. This is for a DC35 but any similar model should be pretty much the same… hopefully eventually of doing this it will start to be OK by itself… let you know.

Try cleaning the two metals points on that on the body of the DC35 - I took some sand paper and clean them and it seems to run better - also with the bin detached, you can push in on those metal contactor points and that may cause it to run.

I only have one power setting and I have to hold the trigger down while using DC35.

Your brand new battery could be junk. This vaccumm is pretty old by now and those batteries have been sitting for years in warehouses.

Check the Ball Joint on the suction pipe down near the cleaning head is free of any obstructions. This area can be totally clogged and because of the bend in the suction pipe it might be impossible to see any obstruction. Make a small hook on the end of a piece of stiff coat hanger wire and try cleaning out the area. This is what caused my similar problem.

I had to basically pry the max sticker off the button then break the plexiglass over the max button to see the little push switch. WORKS!. I had changed every filter, tried a new battery, tried a new powerhead, completely disassembled the entire top, and it was still having a problem. I didn't even know that there was a max button because it was constantly stuck.
