How do you remove scratches from the red laptop panel?
How do you remove the scratches from the red part of the laptop?
I assume the red is plastic, here is a great guide to remove plastic scratches. https://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Scratches...
@jayeff reminded me to the fact this process has water, so be very careful, and if possible remove the plastic case. otherwise this might go from a cosmetic issue to a functional issue

Hi @welchd ,
It may be prudent to also mention that you need to avoid getting any liquids into the laptop.
The link shows a bucket with soapy water being liberally applied even though the text says only damp, and the OP may not be that aware of the dangers of liquids and electronics
It may be better to dis-assemble it first to remove the cover so that it can be cleaned and dried and the scratches polished out away from the laptop internals to avoid any possibility of liquid damage occurring.
just a thought ;-)
Hi Heather Moore,
Here's a link to the service manual for your laptop, {I think - if it is not the right one search online for HP (Insert model number) service manual}
Scroll to p.65 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the display assembly.
Doing this will allow you to gain access to the LCD cover so that you can try to remove the scratches safely away from the laptop thereby reducing the risk of damage to the laptop etc.
If the scratches won't come out you can always order a new LCD cover
Here are the part numbers:
Display back enclosure (includes 2 rubber screw covers):
Black 776771-001
Red 832757-001
Silver 836862-001
Search online using the part number only to get results.
