We tipped a glass of water (plain), hit the machine, and it does nothing even after drying out.
I suspect the logic board to be gone, but how do I make sure?
Also, can I fit boards from similar models in?
I had replaced the battery a month before the accident, so I am not easily scared :-)

First thing to do is try to figure out the extent of the damage. Open it up and look! Dry out things if they are wet.
You may have just shorted out the keyboard thus preventing a boot signal from the power on button. If it is dry, disconnect the mag-safe. Disconnect the battery from the logic board. Press and hold the power on button for 10 seconds. Reconnect it and see if you get a spontaneous reboot.

What you want to do is take out the Logic Board and any other part that has components on it that are exposed (DC in board, I/O board, SSD) and clean it with >90% Isopropyl Alcohol. Look for corrosion and obviously damaged spots while you do have the logic board out.
Your Logic Board is most likely a goner but it’s worth a shot.

@ajcooke01 If all those parts were in stock, which they aren't, start adding the costs up. This answer is way premature as you don't even know what's damaged yet.
@mayer I am not suggesting that the user replace all of these, they are so the user can have guides for taking out certain parts. The user can then clean these parts with IPA and check for corrosion on the components

OK, I have now taken both Logic Board and I/O Board out. Both boards look OK (as in no obvious signs of anything, only exception is the AirPort card which looks like a corner has been hot.
When I plugged the machine in before disassembly the charging light behaved normally (green -> orange) and the screen light gave a brief flash of light.
I think the I/O board is prime suspect and consider assembling without AirPort card. Your thoughts?
Take the advice on cleaning the boards with 90% plus IPA. That will save more problems with the board later. Water contains minerals including salt and even though you have dried everything the salt will remain and will cause corrosion over time,. The item might well work for a while but there is a big probability that corrosion will cause future problems. You can literally put the boards into a bath of IPA for a few minutes and then take it out let it drain on its side and rotate it a couple of times for 24 hours and then you should be good to go as far as corrosion is concerned anyway. Also if you have a multimeter you can put it into diode mode and run some current through the components on the I/O board. The red probe should be grounded to something on the board and the black probe will fire current through the component. If it comes back with a number then there is hope. If the meter screams or says OL then that component is dead
Right, all boards bathed in IPA and now drying until (took a bit of time finding somewhere to buy it).
I do not have a multimeter. If the Logic board is ok, should the machine start without the I/O board connected?
