Why is my usb audio adapter malfunctioning on windows 10?
My usb audio adapter malfunctioned after i installed windows 10 on my pc. It was working pretty well in windows 7.
As you’ve only just installed it, Windows 10 is still ‘getting to know’ your computer. So, go into Settings, then Update and Security, and click on “Check for updates”. I think you’ll find that Windows 10 may fix this one itself after a little while of settling in. Alternatively, if you like doing the techie stuff yourself, then right click on Start and choose Device Manager. Do you see any errors listed there, especially anything related to the USB? If so, drop by here again and tell us what you see.

Hi @popc0rn
The usb audio adapter shows a message in device manager that device malfunctioned.
That’s actually a hopeful sign and means you just need to install the driver for your adapter. Can you tell us anything about your USB Sound card? Is there a model number on it, please? Or, could you provide a full name for it, or even a link to where you bought it from online, please?

Hi @whoosis ,
What is the make and model number of your USB audio adapter?
Have you checked if there are Win 10 drivers available for the adapter?
Just because it is USB doesn't mean that it is supported by Win 10.
Does it appear in Device Manager?

Hi @whoosis ,
There is no information on the USB adapter itself then? No brand name etc?
Without knowing the make and model you will not get the correct drivers for it.
If none then go into Device Manager and right click on the USB Audio adapter entry (is there no name for the adapter in Device Manager either?) and select Properties > Details and in the "value" box look for a name. If none there in the Property box above it click on the arrowhead at the end of the box to expand the options and select Hardware ID and then see if there is anything in the Value box below.
