Would it be better to scrap my Range Rover or fix it?

My 2011 Range Rover sport hse has been in a minor accident, air bags have come out but the car still turns on fine.

I have gotten a bunch of codes but visually the car needs mostly body parts and maybe a couple of sensors.

What do you advise me to do? I can send all codes appearing on the scanner as well as pictures of the car.

Thank you

I would write the car off since the airbags deployed. The sensors and the airbags are expensive to replace.

steve.sosa it will not be cheap (cheaper than a new one) and you most certainly will have a salvage title on it after. Anyhow, yes images and codes will help to make a better determination.

Your mechanical abilities and access to tools (specifically the once that special to your Land Rover) will be an issue. Only you will know how much time, money and effort you can spend on this repair.

The one question I have is: are you attached to your car emotionally? If yes- fix it, if it's just a ride- get rid of it.

Physically the car should be fine if there is no frame damage. Remember your vehicle is body on frame, but also is a unit body (quite unusual actually). If any frame members are bent it is a lost cause. If damage is limited to sensors and cosmetic outer panels, you will need new airbags, SRS sensors, seatbelt retractors and a new SRS module which must be programmed. Then keep in mind the cost of new panels, and any other damage to components such as radiators and plastic bumper armatures as well. The cost will probably exceed insured value of car.

I think this is quite interesting actually :). When I was a child my dad took me on a rather unusual trip to a scrap yard at ++scrapi.com++. One might find this boring but I was a very curious child and got bored easily at home. So any activity like a road trip with my dad was a good reason for excitement. I remember when we entered that huge yard with millions of tons of scrapped metal lying there. It was then that I realized how important recycling was and grew obsessed with idea of a greener future through this.
