Sometimes device does not detect fingerprint hardware
I have fingerprint unlocking activated on my Sony Xperia z5, but sometimes when I press the power button and place my finger there, it shows on the screen "fingerprint hardware not detected". Sometimes It fixes after I spam the power button a few times. Other times that doesn't work , so I try to restart the phone and when the phone boots up, the fingerprint option in the security menu completely disappears! And obviously I can't use my fingerprint to unlock the phone anymore, till I restart the phone again to get it working, but sometimes the "fingerprint hardware not detected" thingy would still pop up. Is this really a hardware issue or is this just a software bug? And is there an actual way to fix this easily? Thanks for reading this and please reply :D

I have this same problem with the Xperia 1 I'm currently using the password so it's more secure and would use fingerprint and passcode if I could but can't cos of the fingerprint not being able to scan my finger even though I've used all the available fingerprint saves for my right thumb and still can't unlock it so turned it off because was just making me !#^&@@ off because the basic thing that every other phone has doesn't work on a £800 phone which blows my mind so every other phone company are attempting folded phones, Face ID, infinity displays etc..... And this phone which is more than 90% of phones can't handle fingerprint. I'm so frustrated please let me know if u find some sort of fix I've tried everything I even contacted Sony they just said that there may be a software fix down the line to fix the problem but just got a software update yesterday and I feel like it honestly made it worse. So please let me know would be greatly appreciated.

I have had problems with the Xperia 5 for a week now. It has completely stopped working and nothing I do fixes it. Clean reader clean fingers so no idea why this is happening.
