If changing the hartd drive which had initially 120 GB, might there be a problem to put in a larger one (250 or even 320 GB)?

No problem, I like the Western Digital Scorpio Black 320 GB ,7200 rpm. Here's how to do it: MacBook Core Duo Hard Drive Replacement

Here's a list of available drives from iFixit: http://www.ifixit.com/Mac-Parts/MacBook-...

They can be had for $61.00: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?c...

MacBooks can take just about any 2.5" SATA hard drive. The highest reasonably priced drive that meets these requirements would likely be a 500GB. You can get larger, but obviously 320 and 250 would be just fine too. Perhaps they would even be preferable if you can't see yourself doubling your needed storage space in the next 2-3 years.

I'm not certain about the cost of the drive that mayer has suggested, but if you are mainly using your MacBook for internet, email, basic photos, music and watching videos there is absolutely no need to pay more for 10,000rpms. Most hard drives use half that, 5200rpms, which is unquestionably fine for the uses listed here.
