The electrical connector to the switch itself may be disconnected inside the handle.
* After the obvious try a different outlet, verify the cord is plugged in both ends.
* The connections to the illuminated switch in the handle are pressed on. After repeated dropping of the handle onto the floor, a switch connector may have fallen off the switch.

* Unplug the unit and remove the screws holing the two sides of the handle together. Locate the loose wire and plug it back into the switch lug.
