Surface corrosion is certainly an issue with the bits.
Even with post-use treatment with 100% isopropyl alcohol.
Context…I was one of those kids, parents dreaded as took things apart as far back as the 70s.
For the curiosity of how it worked, but to see ‘re-combined’ them into a new ‘idea’, even on awards as a 13yr old…building a robotic arms for amputees, for $20 and spare parts - all analog except transistors…
I became a commercial aircraft captain, mathematician, microelectronics & software engineer of 35 years experience, now post-grad in a few other fields at 54.
But can imagine the number of ‘tools’ I’ve bought.😂
Sadly, I lost an arm in 2016. But decided to purchase the iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit in 2019.
With it, I’ve replaced displays, batteries, repaired laptops- yes it was slow going, however, patience is something an amputee must master early. 😏
IMHO, there are a number of tools, IFixit should consider still.
