Your laptop doesn’t respond when pressing the power button.

Your battery may not be receiving power from the adapter. Plug your adapter into a working outlet and check to see if the adapter light is on. If it isn’t, then your adapter is faulty and you will need to purchase a replacement.

If you’ve confirmed that your adapter works, connect it to your laptop. If the laptop only powers on when plugged in, then your laptop’s battery is faulty. Replace the battery using this guide.

Your laptop takes a long time to load files and programs.

Your laptop may be running too many files or programs at once. Try closing any unnecessary files or programs that are currently open. To close a specific window, select the red “x” located in the upper right corner of the screen.

Your laptop may not have enough RAM installed to run certain files or programs without crashing. Add or replace RAM using this guide.

The image on your laptop’s screen is dark, distorted, discolored, blurry, or completely blank.

The screen may be properly loading an image, but the current screen settings may make it difficult to see. For dark images, adjust the brightness or backlight by using the function keys on the keyboard. For distorted images, adjust the aspect ratio. In order to adjust the aspect ratio of your display, go into your computer’s settings and then select display settings to gain access to controls for the display. For discolored images, adjust color, hue, gamma, or tint (located in display settings). For blurry images, adjust the sharpness (located in display settings). For blank images, adjust the contrast (located in display settings).

Neither the backlight nor the display are appearing on. If this is the case, the display may not be receiving adequate power from the laptop. Try charging the laptop, it could be possible that your laptop is out of power. If your laptop is on but there is still no display, your display may be internally damaged and the main screen assembly needs to be replaced. To replace the main display, follow this guide.

If your laptop’s screen is visibly damaged (cracked, warped, etc.), it will affect your image. Replace the screen using this guide.

If your laptop’s screen is not visibly damaged, it may still be faulty. Replace the screen using this guide.

Your laptop’s CD drive has a disk in it, but the laptop thinks it’s empty.

Check to see if your disk is cracked or has scratches on it. If it does, your disk may be too damaged for your CD drive’s lens to read it. Try using the same disk with another device. If it still fails to read, then your disk is faulty and a new copy must be created or purchased.

The CD drive tray will not open or close properly when pressing the drive’s eject button.

If your CD drive is closed, you will need to press the force eject button. Power your laptop down and obtain an unfolded paperclip. Locate the small pin hole next to the eject button and insert the end of the paperclip directly into it. If your CD drive opens, then your eject button is faulty.
