HP Envy TouchSmart m6-k022dx Troubleshooting

The device will not respond while attempting to power it on.

Plug in the power adapter. If the charge light on the adapter does not come on, the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Charge the battery by connecting the power adapter to the device and allowing at least an hour for the battery to obtain a charge. Disconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop. If it does not power on, plug the power adapter in and try to turn it on again. If the laptop will only power on when the adapter is connected, the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Disconnect the power adapter, power off the notebook, and remove the battery. Reconnect the power adapter, turn on the computer. Go into “Device Manager” and then to "Batteries". Right-click on all ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery entries, and select "Uninstall". Shut down the laptop and disconnect the power adapter. Reinsert the battery. Reconnect the power adapter and power the laptop on.

Your device is abnormally warm, or feels too hot, and it will blue screen to prevent the laptop from getting even hotter.

You can check your device temperature by rebooting the computer and booting into BIOS by pressing the computer bios key at startup. Once you are in the BIOS, bios should tell you the GPU and CPU temperature.

Remove the back plate and you will see a little fan. There will be little fan with some screws you need to remove. Remove the screws and then remove the fan and replace it.

Remove back plate from the laptop, followed by the fan the heat sink. Replace the heat sink, the reassemble the laptop.

If the fan is not the problem the remove the fan in order to remove the heat sink. Once you have the heat sink of the computer apply the thermal past on the part of the heat sink that will be touching the CPU.

The sound coming from your computer is shallow, low volume, or there is no sound at all.

Adjust the sound by pressing the “fn” and “f7” or “f8” keys, or by using the volume slider in the lower right hand side of the home screen.

From the desktop, check the speaker symbol in the bottom right hand side of the screen. If there is a circle with a slash symbol on it, the volume has been muted. Unmute the laptop by clicking on the speaker symbol.

If the above options due not resolve the audio issue, uninstall the current sound driver and install the most up-to-date sound driver from the online HP support page.

Your laptop is running abnormally slow, or takes a long time to start up or load programs/applications

Your laptop has too many programs running in the background right from start up. To fix this, open up “System Configuration” by entering these terms in the Start menu. Go to the “Startup” tab, and look at what programs are currently checked. Uncheck the programs that you don't need to be running all the time once you turn on the laptop. If a specific program looks suspicious, feel free to uninstall it in the “Programs and Features” page. Once you are finished, restart the computer.

Your laptop needs to be cleaned of excess dust. Too much dust can cause your computer to heat up to unsafe temperatures. If your computer gets too hot, it will start to perform slower. To clean the dust off of your computer fans, open up your laptop case and begin blowing the dust off with canned air. If you cannot open your laptop case, then just blow the fan grills to the best of your ability.
