I’m currently a student at the University of Kentucky, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Communication Technology. I chose this major because I’m passionate about using technology to bridge cultural gaps and improve communication worldwide. In addition to my studies, I’m a multilingual professional fluent in six languages—Pashto, Dari, English, Turkish, Urdu, and Hindi—which has helped me excel in interpretation and community engagement roles. My work experience includes serving as an Interpreter with Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM), where I assist refugees in navigating their new environments, and being a mentor at the University of Kentucky's College of Communication and Information, where I guide students in adjusting to university life. I’m also a Marketing & Promotions Assistant at the University of Kentucky’s Information Technology Services (ITS), where I help design campaigns and manage promotional materials to boost service visibility. I’m particularly proud of my role as a Communication and Marketing Officer at Noon Digital Education, where I manage social media campaigns and coordinate events to promote digital learning.

As part of an assignment in my Art class while studying abroad in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, I created a unique moving robot. Using simple materials like paper, a cola bottle, ice lolly sticks, fabric, rubber, glue, and a motor, I designed a robot that could actually move. This project challenged me to think creatively and work with everyday materials, transforming them into something functional and artistic. This experience not only enhanced my understanding of design and movement but also fostered my ability to work resourcefully—a skill I bring to all my technical and creative projects. Adding this hands-on project to my profile showcases my enthusiasm for blending art and technology—a passion that drives much of my academic and personal work today.

In addition to my studies and projects, I also run a small Afghan restaurant in Lexington, KY, called Saffron Zafran. Through this venture, I share my culture and passion for Afghan cuisine with the local community. Managing the restaurant has given me hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, and customer engagement—skills that complement my background in ICT and communication. If you’d like to check it out, you can find us on Instagram at @saffron_zafran

I enjoy learning new languages, experimenting with recipes, and reading about the latest technology trends. The iFixit project aligns with my commitment to helping others and expanding my technical knowledge; I’m excited to add hands-on repair skills to my growing ICT toolkit. Fun fact: I can’t live without spicy food, and if you need help with languages, I’m always up for the challenge!
