Paper pickup not working
Paper pickup not working
"Paper pickup" is the rear feed: a rubber pickup roller drags the top sheet off the stack. Split the fault first.
Test: load one sheet, start a copy, and watch the roller.
- Roller turns, sheet stays put = the roller is glazed or hardened and slipping.
- Sheet starts then stalls = an obstruction in the feed path.
- Roller never turns = the feed motor or gear train, a different fault.
If it is slipping:
1. Clean the pickup roller with a lint-free cloth dampened with water or a little isopropyl, and let it dry fully. This restores grip more often than not.
2. Clean the separation pad facing the roller. Packed paper dust there causes misfeeds.
3. Check the path for a torn scrap of paper.
4. If the rubber is hard or shiny, cleaning will not hold: the fix is the paper pickup assembly (roller). On the G2010/G3010/G3012 family it is a replaceable unit, and the feeder fault there is reported as P03.
Also confirm the stack is not overfilled and the sheets are not curled or stuck together.
