My MacBook overheat at simple tasks

What exact temperatures are you seeing, and where are you checking them? Also, what counts as a “simple task” (for example, browsing with how many tabs), and does the fan run loudly or does the Mac slow down?

First check Activity Monitor → CPU to see whether one process is using a lot of CPU, then restart and install any pending macOS updates. If it still gets unusually hot while idle, note whether it’s plugged in and whether the vents are blocked. A new Mac can run warm during setup, syncing, or indexing, but persistent overheating during light use may need service. If you can share a screenshot of Activity Monitor’s CPU tab and the Mac’s exact model/year, that’ll help narrow it down.
