Why isn't my pc working without the power cable
my Lenovo ThinkPad X1carbon has its own installed battery but doesn't work unless it is plugged to another power source it immediately shuts down as soon as I unplug it

Either your battery is dead or the charging circuit on the motherboard is defective but since the laptop is about 10 years old it is quite probable that the battery needs replacing.
