Why is the usb plug not working properly?

@carole50859 could be some dirt et. inside the plug. Make sure there is no corrosion, debris etc. that prevents it from working. Clean it of any debris etc, use a few puffs of air to clean it out.

If that does not work it may be time to replace the Sub board (daughter board or charging board). since iFixit does not yet have a specific guide for that, use the one from here It was written in Spanish, so use a browser that will translate it for you (if needed).

While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit.
