Caps Lock Key Came Off
My caps lock key came off, and I can't get it back on. Everytime I do, it stays stuck down and wont come back up. I'm wondering how to properly reinsert the metal bracket and keycap?

Have a look at this guide for replacing the key caps (volume off) or here or here depending on model and keyboard types. Hopefully nothing has broken which is making the key appear to be stuck down. (There maybe a small rubber thing that goes in the center that pushes the key up, I have a feeling that is missing.

not, it's still there. I think it's just user error tbh. I can put it down now to where it pops up but the key caves in a little towards where the led is. that'll have to do if nobody else finds a fix. tbh its not that big of a deal since i never use the key but it's still something i want to get fixed. worst case scenario ill take it to an apple retailer.

Most likely the cap is damaged. There are some small clips which often break off just trying to put the cap back on. You’ll need to get a replacement here’s one source Parts for Apple MacBook Air 2020/M1 family Click on the image to drill down to country and then the given key.

if it wasn't broken, how would i put it back on? i really dont think its broken.
@loganacheson - The fact it came off tells me the clips have failed. While it might slide back on and sorta hold on with just one clip it will come off again. I’ve had quite a few of these come in for repair for some reason the way people hit the key tends to cause it to snap the clip. To be clear this clip is a very small extension on the bottom side of the Key Cap that snags the scissor mechanism below.
