1 Sony HDR-SR7 LCD replacement
I learnt from ifixit how to - and was able to successfully - remove the LCD screen from my HDR-SR7. However, I have been unable to find a replacement LCD panel in any aftermarket (eBay, Ali Express, etc.).
I was able to find LCD screens for Sony HDR-HC1E HVR-A1C HC1E A1C DCR- HC42E HC43E HC46E HC48E HC90E HC96E on Ali Express. Those screens are the same size (2.7”) as HDR-SR7, but of a different resolution: HDR-SR7 LCD is 211K pixels, while the others are 123.2K pixels. The position of the cables are the same.
Question: what will happen if i replace the sony hdr-sr7 lcd screen with sony DCR-HC96E lcd screen?
Will the LCD screen display any picture at all?
Will the picture be the same, but only of a lower resolution?
Will the picture be cropped in or cropped out?

Do you happen to have a guide for how to disassemble it to take the screen out? I need to do this and I cannot find any guide. Also, did you find any screen replacement?

There are a few video tutorials on YouTube and photo tutorials on ifixit for various Sony camcorder models. I did not find the one specific to my model but studying the ones for the listed models closely I was able disassemble and remove the screen fairly easily. You just need to be patient and careful.
I found an LCD screen with lower pixels than mine and wasn’t sure how that would work, so I had posted the question above. It was selling cheap on Ali Express so I went ahead and purchased it before I got a response. I needed 211Kp and the one I got was 123.2Kp. What it did was stretch the image horizontally and displayed on the LCD about half (or 123.2/211 fraction to be exact) the image on the Viewfinder.
I am still looking for the 211Kp LCD with no luck on Ali Express. It seems that a search with the part number does not yield results…
