Could it be part of the air filter? Don’t see it on schematics anywhere?

Could be for the trigger? When it is together the trigger, you can pull it, but I don’t come back out

When I tried putting the saw back together the trigger on the handle had no resistance. Is it possible it could be for the trigger lock?
