Upgrade my system's HDD to NVME if my motherboard don't have port

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to upgrade my system’s storage from an HDD to an HPE 875579-H21 NVMe SSD. However, I've discovered that my motherboard doesn’t have an NVMe port.

Is there a way to use this NVMe SSD with my current motherboard setup? Are there specific adapters or solutions available to make this work, or would it be better to upgrade my motherboard? I would greatly appreciate any advice or recommendations you can provide!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Can you please send me the adaptor picture

Hi @johnhaber

The point I was making is that there is NO performance increase. For laptops the only adapter I know of is USB to NVMe M.2. But you never know so don't let me stop you from looking.

Just a general answer until you give us exact model details.

Even though you can buy adapters, if a motherboard does not have native NVMe built in there is no advantage to using one over an SSD. I have done this numerous times for many different types of drive interfaces (starting with IDE to SATA SSD and upwards.) - for the sheer joy of seeing if it possible - but again there is no performance advantage. Only for hobbyists techies. Does that answer your question?
