A guitar shaped controller for Guitar Hero III of the Guitar Hero video game franchise.

Controller Is Constantly Disconnecting

I've had my Xbox 360 Les Paul guitars since GH3 came out back in '07 and I've been trying to bring them back to life. I've hardwired the fret buttons to the main pcb so that I don't have to deal with those stupid pogo pins, but I've run into a bigger issue. It keeps disconnecting, inconsistently at that. Sometimes it's every 30 seconds, and sometimes it'll go for a few songs without any problems. It always disconnects for either just a split second, or up to 30 seconds. ⏎

I've changed the 220uf 10v cap on the battery pack, and the problem is still happening. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Anyone have any tips?

I also have the same issue, I tried to resolder the battery pack connection but it did not solve the issue. If you tried the cap then I don't think by changing it for me will do any good.

Before this issue it was the fret buttons. I fixed them by cleaning them and fixed the neck issue by using a bit of cardboard. I played a few week and this issue started to appear when I bought a second guitar controller to play co-op. I thought it was the xbox that have connection issue with two controllers but the new one works flawlessly. So I tried the old one on single player but it has the same symptom as you described. Still cannot figure where on the board is causing this random disconnections.
