I have a 2008 Honda city vtec and I have a problem with it starting. The first turn of the key (cold) starts the car and after lets say going to the store to buy something quickly, it doesn’t start anymore. I have to wait around 2 hours for it to start again with no problem, or have to bring a battery pack to jump start it every time it doesn’t start. The battery is fairly new and reads 12.8 volts..

@pauliannej96970 so it does start with a boost just not with it's own battery? That would lead me to replacing the battery. It most likely loses the ability to supply the proper cranking amps (not voltage) when hot. If in doubt, do a load check on your battery and see if it passes or fails. If it fails, replace the battery.

Thank you for this, will certainly do this as soon as possible. Can this also be an alternator problem? I just replaced the alternator’s IC… The car starts so I figured it’s not alternator since it charges the battery. (It had been months since the IC change)
@pauliannej96970 it could be but it's unlikely. I would go ahead and check the battery first. If it does come back as being good (not barely good but really good ;-) then we can go ahead and check the rest of the system. Again, if it starts with boost then we know it's electrical. That means we can ignore things like fuel pressures and even sensors etc.
