Black screen, sound OK

My TV had a picture that blurred from time to time.

On the PPW-EE37FH high-voltage card, 2 capacitors had blown. I replaced them with the same ones.

Then, I had an lvds sheet on the T-con card that was coming out of its slot.

I put the LVDS cable back in place, without switching off the TV... There was a spark and since then I've had sound but a black screen.

Thinking I'd burnt out the T-con card, I bought a new one.

Unfortunately, the problem is still there.

Do you think that connecting a powered LVDS cable could affect which card?

Last question: my 2 LVDS cables are in very poor condition. It's not possible to read the exact reference, because there's aluminium paper covering the reference. I can only read: EUNSUNG-E12954. The size of this tablecloth is : 31mm x 80mm.

Can you tell me the exact reference and if you have it in stock?

Thank you very much for your help

Update (05/26/24)

Hello and thank you for your prompt reply.

Here are the photos of my LVDS cards and tablecloths.

On each picture, I've put some notes that might help you.

But when you look at the state of my LVDS tablecloths, I think that until they are new, I may not be able to make any progress in solving my problem.

Now I don't know how to find compatible LVDS tablecloths....

@chuandongo43020 iFixit does not stock parts for this.

It is absolutely possible that the LCD driver boards may have gotten shorted out. We really would need to see your boards etc. so that we at at least can try to help you out further. Post some good images of your board, cables etc. with your Question. That will allow us to see what you see.

In the meantime you could download the LG 37lf65 Service Manual and follow the troubleshooting flowcharts to determine if you can isolate the issue.

The importance on ribbon cables is the width of the contacts, the distance between contacts, the amount of contacts and the thickness of the cable.

Update (05/26/24)

@chuandonghound check the voltage on Fuse F1 on your LED driver board and check it for continuity. Also, consider checking the back side of those boards, there are vital components as well. The "crackling" noise could be normal. Those are the transformers that produce the power for your backlights. Looks like your TV uses CCFL backlights. You are right about your cables Do not use those! you will need new ones. There is no way you can do a good field testing of your TV with those cables. Replace those and then recheck your TV. Main suspect after your cables is your LED driver board.

Update :

After changing the LVDS flex cables, everything returned to normal.

So to sum up, there were 3 problems:

- The 2 capacitors on the high-voltage board

- The T-con card was out of order

- The 2 damaged LVDS cables.

I'd like to thank you for your support, your responsiveness and for the direction to follow in case all these operations weren't enough.

This TV is back for another 10 years :).

Thanks again!
